About Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam holds back Lake Mead in Black Canyon. The visitor centre and tours run from 9 am to 5 pm every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas: the Dam Tour is sold on site only, the Powerplant Tour online. There is a per-vehicle parking charge in the Nevada-side garage, and every vehicle is inspected at the security checkpoint. It is about 32 miles, roughly 55 minutes without stops, from the centre of the Strip.
