About Sphere explained: the back story
Sphere opened behind the Venetian and has changed the skyline. Here is what makes it different and how to plan a visit.
The outside
Sphere’s skin, the Exosphere, is covered with more than 1.2 million LEDs, so the whole building becomes a giant display visible across the city.
The inside
Inside, a 16K-resolution screen curves around and above the audience, with a powerful sound system. Seating is in sections at different heights, and the official tourism listing notes that they vary in steepness, sightlines and legroom, so check the seating map when you book.
Even from the outside, Sphere is a show.
What’s on
The Wizard of Oz at Sphere is the resident experience. Concert residencies come and go; in late 2026 and early 2027 Sphere’s own listings include the Eagles, the Backstreet Boys and Oprah Winfrey. See our What’s On page and thesphere.com for dates.
Planning a visit
Sphere is at 255 Sands Avenue, behind the Venetian Resort. Allow time for security and arrive early.
Our advice: see Sphere once from inside and once from the outside at night, from the High Roller or a terrace on the Strip.
